Obedience

This is something we have been told to do, taught to do, and rewarded (or awarded) when it happens.  For the one who professes faith in Jesus Christ alone, we have been taught that we must obey God.  Yet there lies the looming underlying...  "what if...", "what is behind door number 2",  "Does God really know..."   Sometimes it even goes as far as ... "I don't want to..."

We take a look at Genesis 1:1 ff  http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis%201&version=AMP

Genesis 1

1IN THE beginning God (prepared, formed, fashioned, and) created the heavens and the earth.    2The earth was without form and an empty waste, and darkness was upon the face of the very great deep. The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the face of the waters.
3And God said, Let there be light; and there was light.
4And God saw that the light was good (suitable, pleasant) and He approved it; and God separated the light from the darkness.
5And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.
6And God said, Let there be a firmament [the expanse of the sky] in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters [below] from the waters [above].
7And God made the firmament [the expanse] and separated the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse. And it was so.
8And God called the firmament Heavens. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.
9And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be collected into one place [of standing], and let the dry land appear. And it was so.
10God called the dry land Earth, and the accumulated waters He called Seas. And God saw that this was good (fitting, admirable) and He approved it.
11And God said, Let the earth put forth [tender] vegetation: plants yielding seed and fruit trees yielding fruit whose seed is in itself, each according to its kind, upon the earth. And it was so.
12The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed according to their own kinds and trees bearing fruit in which was their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good (suitable, admirable) and He approved it.

Because I was a little slow...  IT hit me right be about the 11th or 12th verse, printed right there in black and white with a coloring of yellow.  "... God said... and it was so..."  ... the light, ...the sky... land and sea... vegetation...   all called into being.  There was no back and forth... no discussion, nothing... complete obedience.  Complete yieding.  There was no  "what if..." or "I don't feel like..."  God said, and it was done!

Wow!!!  I look back at my own life and see all of the second guesses and disobedience.  It make me wonder...  what blessing I missed not following God.  How sweeter my walk could have grown  if only...

Have you ever wondered what would have happened if one of the elements would have stopped doing and being what it was asked?  What would it mean...   Having the faith that I have, I KNOW that there is no "What if...".  Because God is GOD there is nothing other!!!

As you step into your world today whether it be school, or work, or home, or wherever... know that God deserves complete obedience, nothing else!
